TITLE: Internal And External Research

POLICY

The District Director of the Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services supports internal and external research relevant to the District’s programs.

PROCEDURES

The Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services has contracted with the Iowa Department of Human Rights, Division of Criminal and Juvenile Justice Planning, to do research evaluation of the District’s Day Programming including a complete program description; the collection, entering, and analyzing of data on the day programming offenders and their participation; a report comparing and contrasting the offender groups and program outcomes; and recidivism research on Day Programming offenders. This is a three year program research analysis contract. The District Director regularly, but at least annually, reviews program data acquired through ICON and Ad Hoc reports to internally evaluate and modify program goals and objectives and to assign staff appropriately, taking into account the availability of resources, safety of the public, and the most effective methods for the supervision of the District’s offenders.
