Using the goals and objectives of each of the districts as guidelines, the Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services along with the other judicial district departments of correctional services in the state participated in the development of the Iowa Corrections Offender Network (ICON) computerized data system. This is a dynamic data system which has evolved and changed before, during, and after its development to meet the changing needs, goals, and objectives of corrections in the state of Iowa.
Numerous line staff and management staff from the District participated in the development of the Iowa Corrections Offender Network (ICON). Both line staff and management staff continue to have input into the ongoing modifications necessary to make this system work for the line staff inputting data and for the management staff extracting data from the system. ICON allows line and management staff to regularly utilize standard information. Demand information can be acquired from ICON by generating an Ad Hoc report. The District Director has access to both standard and demand information through ICON.
