TITLE: Political Campaigning and Lobbying

POLICY

All Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services employees are prohibited from engaging in any partisan political activity during work time or using his/her office, public position, department equipment, public property, or supplies, to secure contributions or to influence an election for any political party or any person seeking political office. All District staff must also comply with the following Code of Iowa statutes: 721.3 through 721.7; 68B.2; 68B.2A; 68B.5A; and 68B.36 (attached).

PROCEDURES

Fifth Judicial District Department of Correctional Services staff will not engage in any partisan political activity during work time. No staff will use his/her office, public position, department equipment, public property, or supplies, to secure contributions or to influence an election for any political party or any person(s) seeking political office. Staff will comply with Code of Iowa statutes 721.3 through 721.7 and 68B.2, 68B2A, 68B.5A, and 68B.36. Any alleged violations will be reported, investigated, and could result in departmental as well as criminal sanctions.
