Allowable - Non-Allowable Items
You will need to bring:
- Clothing that is appropriate for work and leisure. No wire hangers, plastic only. Clean Clothes only.
- Alarm clock (with radios allowed)
- Soap, deodorant (stick or roll-on) shampoo, conditioner toothpaste, toothbrush, hair equipment, shaving equipment, (disposable or electric razor and shaving cream), No mouthwash, unless label states its alcohol free. No aerosol cans. No glass.
- Laundry facilities are provided at no charge. You may bring laundry detergent and fabric softener sheets.
- Change for the pay phone (.50) or pre-paid phone cards
- Pens, pencils, paper, stamps and envelopes.
- Any money over $20.00 must be turned in and will be placed in your account. Bus pass/token money needed at intake.
- Current Iowa I.D., driver's license and social security card. (No credit cards, bank cards, or checking/savings accounts).
- Medication; Prescription or over the counter, must be unopened with seal intact.
- You may bring a footlocker, maximum size of 30" wide x 15" deep x 12" high. Locks are provided by the facility and must be used. They are loaned for the duration of your stay.
* It is recommended you not bring any valuables to the facility. The facility is not responsible for property being lost, stolen, or damaged. There is a one time $30.00 linen fee charged to all residents. Daily rent is charged depending on your status. *
DO NOT BRING:
- Drugs or Paraphernalia
- Keys
- Incense
- Tools
- Hypodermic needles
- Vinegar or salt
- Tobacco - for pipes or rolling
- Plastic baggies
- Silverware, cups, etc.
- Any and all kinds of rope, string or wire
- Room deodorizer
- Black lights
- Alcohol
- Cigarette papers
- Firearms or weapons of any kind, including scissors
- India ink
- Any eye clearing solution
- Aluminum foil
- Glue
- Food, including pop, candy etc.
- Any gambling paraphernalia, including lottery tickets
- Tapes, tape players, walkman, stereos or radios
- Extension cords
- Posters or wall décor
- Pagers or cell phones
- Any written, pictorial or symbolic material that incites hatred, abuse or anger toward ANY group or race
- Cameras
- No plants or flowers and no deliveries
- Any dirty or soiled clothing
